The Green Economy SMMEs and Startups Programme fills a unique gap in the South African start-up ecosystem, addressing the two key elements constraining successful entrepreneurial activity, especially among young black people: low start-up skills and one-on-one support to address alternatives or readiness for investment capital. Over 1,000 youth were interviewed, engaged and selected for support for the first three years of the programme.
