The AgResults Aflasafe Nigeria Pilot project was set up to demonstrate that private-sector can successfully be involved in agribusiness and agricultural innovation delivery, to significantly influences how farmers can be reached with available technologies. It is also expected to show that smallholder farmers can enjoy commensurate premiums arising from using of agricultural innovation for better health and increased income. The AgResults Aflasafe pilot implements pull mechanism to encourage Agricultural Enterprises adoption of Aflasafe technology towards the management of Aflatoxin contamination in Maize production. The private sector companies work with small holder farmers to overcome restrictions on their ability to optimize returns from adoption of innovative technologies such as Aflasafe. The incentives buffers the private sector companies from constraints that can lead to little or no demand for technology such as provision of lines of credit, access to inputs and insurance.
